Extreme cold can cause many problems to us. Since we cannot control Mother Nature, what we can do is to try to avoid the harmful conditions that coldness can bring. Most of the time, our bodies are affected. Coldness drains our energy. This is explains why sometimes you do not feel like moving. However, it can also cause hypothermia, which means our body temperature is below the normal range. This is not good because our cells live only at a specific range other than that they die. This also means your death.

You see these are just the effects on human beings. However, coldness has its own harsh effects on the things that you store for the season. One of which is your motorcycle.

Sometimes it is better to store your bikes for this season because of unfavorable driving conditions. Roads become too slippery for any two-wheeled vehicle to handle. On top of that, you are also putting the interiors and exteriors of your bike for corrosion and other problems. You need to do this, to prepare your bikes for the next riding season. At least it will be there long enough to give your more riding days. Instead of putting on your favorite jacket and winter motorcycle gloves, let them rest well for the rest of the season together with your bikes.

How do you start? Here are some few tips:

� Find a spot in your homes that is dry and warm enough to accommodate this vehicle. Make sure the area is not prone to moisture. There should be lesser wind entering it or none at all.

� Stabilize your fuel. You can add more fuel to tank but only to a certain level. This is because any fluids at this time can expand. If there will be no room for expansion, it can cause a break on the tanks.

� The battery needs to disconnected and recharged. This is time when you can add more distilled water for battery cells with low level. After which, you can also keep it stored in a dry and warm place. Should you decide not to disconnect it, you can always attach a battery tender on it.

� This is also the perfect time to change oil. Any residues from the previous season may be harmful to your oil tanks. Therefore, it is not a good idea to have them lying around for the rest of the season.

� Ensure that the pressures of your tires are within the acceptable range. As much as possible keep them off the ground. If you do not have stands to make this possible, make sure the floor where they rest is not as cold as ice.

� Like the way you cover up your body with winter motorcycle gloves and jackets, your bikes should be covered as well. Make sure you have the right cover that is porous enough so that moisture will not build up from within. You can also wax the metal parts of your bike and make sure they are clean enough before they can be stored.
